চীনের রাষ্ট্রদূত জানিয়েছেন, বাংলাদেশের ইলিশ মাছ চীনে অত্যন্ত জনপ্রিয়। তাই প্রাথমিকভাবে এক হাজার টন ইলিশ আমদানি করার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে তাদের।
এছাড়া, বাংলাদেশ থেকে আম, কাঁঠাল ও পেয়ারা আমদানি করার আগ্রহের কথাও জানান ইয়াও ওয়েন। পাশাপাশি, চীনের বিনিয়োগকারীরা বাংলাদেশে বিনিয়োগে আগ্রহী বলে উল্লেখ করেন তিনি। ইতোমধ্যে চট্টগ্রামের অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলে ৩০টি চীনা কোম্পানি বিনিয়োগে আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেছে।
বাণিজ্য উপদেষ্টা শেখ বশিরউদ্দীন বলেন, চীন বাংলাদেশের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উন্নয়ন অংশীদার ও বন্ধুপ্রতিম দেশ। বিনিয়োগ বৃদ্ধির মাধ্যমে দুই দেশের সম্পর্ক আরও সুদৃঢ় করার সুযোগ রয়েছে।
